Salman's popularity in the film industry  August 8, 2000 India FM If the number of prints ordered and processed by distributors and exhibitors are an indicator of a star's popularity, then  Salman Khan  tops the list. A film released with a maximum number of prints on its premiere release confirms the star's popularity and indicates his standing within and outside the film industry. For quite some time now, there has been a debate about who the most in-demand star is at the moment. In the 1980's and 1990's, when Amitabh Bachchan ruled the roost, a  Bachchan  starrer used to released with 250 to 300 prints at one go. But, of late,  Salman Khan  starrers seem to be the hot favourite of distributors and exhibitors. The year 2000 has witnessed the release of some of the biggest films and the list indicates that  Salman  is very ahead of his contemporaries. His latest release,  Har Dil Jo Pyar Karega , has created a record of sorts by ...

Sajid Nadiawala's Har Dil Jo Pyar Karega which had got bumper opening and one of the biggest opening of all-time. Released with record breaking prints, the first two days collections were 100% but after two days the collections started dropping however the collections are still excellent in Bombay and A class centres. In Bombay it collected 98.85% in the first week. The film is priced very reasonably and on top of it extraordinary opening assured the distributors that they will not lose on this film. Now one will have to wait and see whether the film becomes an mere overflow or a hit or a the second super duper hit of the year after Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai. Very good promotion, hit songs and Superstar Salman Khan presence at least guaranteed a bumper opening.  Har Dil Jo Pyar Karega - 1st week Bombay - 82,75, 460 (98.85%), Pune - 19,77,262 (96%), Jamnagar -1,72,100 (78%), Delhi - 79,69,730 (79.72%), Adipur - 1,66,690 (74%), Sholapur - 4,33,966 (92%), Lucknow - 4,61,887 (89%), San...
Khalid Mohammad's  Fiza  which had got a bumper opening all over the country mainly because of Hrithik Roshan's mania has fizzled out in many circuits. The film was very highly priced and the distributors are not going to make enough money as expected as the response to the film by the audience is not very good. So the repeat value of the film is minimal. However the first week's collections in Mumbai and Maharashtra were very good. The film did a business of 96% in Mumbai (from 12 cinemas) and 85% in Delhi (from 14 cinemas). Whatever may be the fate of the film at the box-office, Hrithik has proved his hold at the box-office with the initials of the film and also confirmed that he is not a one-film hero. He is here to stay for long and that he has all the talents to go further. Fiza First Week Box-Office Collections Mumbai (96%) - 67,30,958 Ahmedabad - 26,65,054 Delhi (85%) - 90,24,277 Calcutta - 24,22,707 Jaipur (63%) - 10,10,657 Hyderabad - 49,00,021

60 captures 19 Apr 2001 - 07 May 2021 APR JUN AUG 10 2000 2001 2002       About this capture Chori Chori Chupke Chupke   [indiaexpress.com]    [cricketzone.com]      Chori Chori Chupke Chupke   ( Romance Movies  ,2001) Starring Salman Khan .... Raj Malhotra Rani Mukherjee .... Priya Preity Zinta .... Madhoo Director :  Abbas-Mastan Producer :  Nazim Rizvi Synopsis It has candyfloss in a liberal dose, puerile situations and dialogues, a pinch of brawn storming, and lovers buzzing off to exotic foreign locales at the drop of a hat--all the ingredients of a typical Bollywood  masala . Salman, Rani and Preity made an admirable triangle in  Har Dil Jo Pyar Karega  which had the theme of two lasses enamored by the same man (Salman). Abbas-Mastan's  Chori Chori Chupke Chupke  has the same set up albeit the director duo has put an unexpected twist in the story. Known for making spine-...
Q. You have  been consistently giving successful shows. First it was Ranbir Rano that toppled the TRP charts and then there was another show on Zee  12/24 Karol Bagh  in which your role Omi got all the applauses and laurels and now its Sony TV's Saas Bina Sasural which is receiving excellent TRP. How does it feel when your shows are becoming successful back-to-back.  Ravi : Well who don't enjoy the success? I am very happy that my shows are fairing exceedingly well. The day I signed Saas Bina Sasural I know that it gonna be a huge success and it has already become huge successful show.  My parents are very proud of me that I have got success in the TV field.  Q. How's your equation with co-star Aishwarya Sakhuja?  Ravi : Let me tell you the truth. Aishwarya is kind of an introvert person. Initially, we both were not sharing good equation but after some days of shooting we both become very good friends.
DYNAMITE DUO After super success of Judwaa and the more recent blockbuster Biwi No.1, David Dhawan and Salman Khan will be paired again in Gordhan Tanwani's ' Mujhse Shaadi Karoge '. Karishma Kapoor will be the heroine of the film and will also star Govinda as a secondary lead. Incidentally, the title of the film was originally for Satish Kaushik's Anil-Sonali-Aishwarya starrer. But the latter film's title has now been changed to ' Hamara Dil Aapke Paas Hai '.
The  star of the indeed of the whole year , is  undoubtedly Superstar Salman Khan . Just look at his career statistics from 1999.  Five releases, a hit and two super duper hits. And a guest appearance in another hit (Sirf Tum) . The year started auspiciously for Sallu. The mega hit of 1998,  Kuch Kuch Hota Hai , continued its dream run through the first half of this year. True, the movie was a Shah Rukh vehicle, but at least it got the tiny muscleman his first ever Filmfare Award (for best supporting actor). Then followed  Jaanam Samjha Karo  with Urmila. Sure it was a coverage film, but Sallu escaped with  his star appeal intact . As was proved by the  twin successes of Biwi No.1 and Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam . The fact that two movies with the same star -- released within a space of a fortnight of each other -- could  attract such fantastic initials , proved that Salman's fans had forgiven him for the blackbuck-shooting fiasco.  Bi...
What is this minority audience." and what sort of films does it want to see on the Hindi screen? If you derive more satisfaction from seeing a film like "Garm Hawa" rather than films like "Jugnu",  "Yaadon Ki Baaraat" or "Bobby", then you are "the minority "audience. film producers, especially Hindi And Alm producers, have never made films for you, because for them you do not exist. Your miserable patronage at the box-office does not add those Innumerable zeroes to collection figures touted week after week in the Trade Journal Advertisements as "Breaking All Records etc. etc. At about total productions of around 450 films were released this year among which the most successful films of the year were Bobby, Yaadon Ki Baaraat, Jugnu, Zanjeer, Loafer, Anuraag, Daag, Victoria No.203, Kahani Kismet Ki, Dharma, Samadhi, Heera, Namak Haraam, Aa Gale Lag Jaa, Do Chor, Anhonee, Manchali, Jaise Ko Taisa, Abhimaan, Jheel Ke Uss Paar, J...

Amitabh Bachchan —  The True Superstar What is the indefinable ' something ' that plases a son of an accounts executive on the altar of success at which millions of crazed fans come to make obeisance. In short what make Amitabh Bachchan a superstar? Amitabh Bachchan fans almost murdered him in Calcutta — with Love.  The trend has changed from the romantic age. Violence is the theme of today. There was no one who could play the angry young man ; and the void was filled by the volcanic Amitabh Bachchan. Fortunately, Zanjeer clicked and become a big hit at the box-office and Amitabh was riding high and when Deewar become a blockbuster , he was rated number two by trade next only to Dharmendra. One cannot identify with Amitabh Bachchan. He's aloof as the angry young man.  1978 will be remembered as the Amitabh Bachchan undoubtedly.  dominated the year like a One Man Army. No one had dominated a year like Amitabh Bachchan apart from his contemporaries Dharme...

DILIP KUMAR — THE BOX-OFFICE GOD The greatest superstar of Indian cinema history Dilip Kumar started his career with Jwar Bhata in 1944 but it barely scrape out at the box-office. It was followed by another flop Pratima. But the success was not far behind. Just after 3 years of debut his first breakthrough role come in Bombay Talkies Milan (1947) which was major box-office hit and it was followed by a sensational box-office grosser Jugnu which turned out to be one of the biggest hit of the decade. The success of these two films was followed by box-office hits like Mela, Nadiya Ke Paar, Shabnam, Ghar Ki Izzat and at last Andaz which smashed all the box-office records that existed then. In Andaz, he showed his acting histrionics and won the hearts of critics and public. At the end o 1940s decade he was instantly rated number one and the most popular star.  Dilip Kumar's next decade fifties started with a bang with Arzoo.  With Arzoo Dilip Kumar proves what a fine dramatic actor ...
